The job: Remedy engineer
The employer: JMA Information Technology, in Overland Park, supports and provides information technology and supplemental staffing services. It is a U.S. General Services Administration information technology vendor and the prime contractor for the U.S. Department of Agriculture National Information Technology Center in Kansas City.

Mitch BashamThe job: Manufacturing engineer
The employer: Smith Electric Vehicles U.S. Corp. was founded in Kansas City in 2009. The company produces urban delivery trucks that are 100 percent electric.

Sharon BufordThe job: National account sales manager
The employer: Fry-Wagner Moving & Storage is a fourth-generation, family-owned transportation, moving and storage company based in Kansas City. The independently owned company, which has national and international corporate and individual customers, is an agent for United Van Lines.

Christopher WasmundThe job: Reverse logistics processor
The employer: Based in Olathe for 20 years, Garmin designs, manufactures, markets and sells navigation, communication and information devices and applications, most of which are enabled by GPS technology. The company serves the automotive, aviation, marine, wireless, outdoor and fitness industries.

Megan AllenThe job: Owner
The businesses: One of my businesses, Soiree Event Designs, which focuses on wedding planning, is based in an office out of my new Brookside retail store, Bella Bridesmaid. Bella Bridesmaid was founded in San Francisco in 2000 and franchised in 2006. Our independently owned and operated shop opened here in Kansas City in October.

Randy BradshawThe job: Regional administrator/local sales agent
The employer: Aflac, based in Columbus, Ga., provides supplemental health insurance policies throughout the United States and in Japan. Ninety-six percent of Aflac’s U.S. policies are sold to individuals through the workplace. Aflac has three sales offices in the Kansas City area, including the one on Tiffany Springs Parkway where Bradshaw is based.

Krista FisherThe job: Marketing specialist
The employer: KC SmartPort Inc., an economic development group, focuses on the logistics and transportation industry in Kansas City. The 10-year-old nonprofit develops the existing logistics industry and works to attract new logistics companies to the bistate, 18-county Kansas City region. It is funded by investors from the private and public sectors.

Karen LewisThe job: Human resources administrative assistant.

The employer: The Great Plains Laboratory for Health, Metabolism and Nutrition in Lenexa was founded by William Shaw, Ph.D., in 1996. The lab specializes in comprehensive biochemical testing for adult and child metabolic disorders, including autism spectrum disorders.

The employer: Deloitte Consulting LLP, based in New York with offices in Kansas City and throughout the world, provides audit, consulting, financial advisory, risk management and tax services. There are about 80 consulting practitioners in the Kansas City office of Deloitte.
