L-3 Communications Holdings Inc.’s Mobile-Vision unit settled a patent-infringement suit it filed against Icop Digital Inc. over components for police video- surveillance systems, Icop said in a regulatory filing.
Terms of the settlement weren’t disclosed. Icop said it will issue a statement once L-3 signs the final settlement agreement.
Jennifer Pupa, a spokeswoman for New York-based L-3, said the company doesn’t comment on legal matters.
L-3, which provides military translators, also makes video- surveillance systems used in police vehicles to record stops and other interactions with the public. It claimed base stations and microphones that use L-3 technology were being sold by Lenexa, based Icop without permission.
The dispute was over wireless microphones that are activated automatically when a DVD or VCR system starts recording, or that can be used by a police officer to turn on the recording system if he’s out of his car.
