It could have been the classic hick gets taken in New York story.
Joe Zwillenberg was on vacation in Times Square when he saw a “vegetable car,” kind of a healthier version of the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile.
He was so taken with the vehicle, he chatted up the owner.
Zwillenberg told him about his renowned hamburgers at Westport Flea Market Bar & Grill and how he would love to have a “burger car.”
Then he heard the price — $14,000.
Zwillenberg took out his $800 travel money and said he would make a cash down payment on a better deal, one he won’t reveal but terms “priceless.”
The car’ creator, Matt Targon, agreed, amazed that Zwillenberg was so trusting.
“I reaffirmed his belief that people are good and can be trusted. Maybe it took somebody from Kansas City to remind him of that,” Zwillenberg said.
Now the restaurant’s “Burger Mobile” will debut at 11 a.m. today at the restaurant’s 28th anniversary celebration, which runs through Tuesday. Prices also have been rolled back to 1981— $2.99 for burgers and 99 cent beers.

The GMC, now decked out with fake “hamburger, lettuce, tomato, onion, ketchup, cheese and pickle,” arrived Saturday at the restaurant at 817 Westport Road.
“I drove it to the Plaza yesterday and people were going nuts,” Zwillenberg said. “I tell people it runs on 500 calories a day.”
